I'm tired of taking so much time out of fishing tying knots changing flies. When I was young and had good eyes it wasn't a problem but now I have to get out the specs; usually have to take off the sunglasses; you old fogys know the rountine. Anyway, here is my solution. They have much smaller sizes but I thought these would show up better. I wouldn't use them for trout as they are pretty leader shy, but for bass and bream unless the water is extremely clear, why not? Anyone ever tried these things? Like/dislike??????-p-

I use them more in the winter,I have no complaint, there is a few brands that I have used, the mustad brand are very tough due to type of metal, to tough for cold fingers and the other brand is No-knot Fas snap are very easy to snap on and off and very very light and are similar to those in your picture and come in silver and super small that would be ideal for fly fishing. I think they even recommend the tiny ones for fly fishing.Very easy on the fingers. Never seemed to bother the fish that I could tell. Bass pro has them but check there web site for the sizes The tiny ones are really tiny.Cheers!

Carter, that's exactly what I thought as well!
Never seen the snaps, P, but it may prove to be a useful item. Let us know how you get along with them.

I honestly didn't know they still made those things :v From my memory of them, it took longer to get a fly off than to tie a knot, and then I either hooked myself fighting with it and/or my it snagged my leader and/or pick up tons of algae. For the fishing you're talking about, I would think a the smallest size snap hook (00 ?) would be no more off-putting to the fish, would be faster and easier to use, and wouldn't snag.

I've never tried it. My clip-on magnifier serves me very well.

they give the same action as a loop knot; don't know if they scare fish. Back when I was a boy(just after the civil war) I used a zebco 33 and would tie on a swivel on the end of the line so I could change baits faster; caught lots of brim and bass; maybe they won't work in real clear water, but here in east texas we have none-p-

Oh come on—you know good and well the 33 wasn't made until just after the Spanish American war
