Does anyone know if you can tie an effective perfection loop in braided line for a loop to loop connection?

You can, but I found it to be easier/neater to put the leader in my fly tying vise and whip a loop. Then cover it with Knot Sense or super glue.

Why don't you use a latch hook (small crochet needle, or the larger size splicing needle sold by Cortland) and make a spliced loop? It takes less time than tying the knot (and certainly less time than whipping a loop), is smoother, looks better, and is at least as strong as either of those methods. If you don't know how, there are tutorials on the net, and probably youtube videos by now.

Are you talking dacron type braid, or "super line" braids like TuffLine or PowerPro? Perfection loop isn't needed in one of those super braids - a triple surgeon's knot works alright in my experience but I don't think I would use a loop to loop if you're connecting super line to mono or flourocarbon, I would use a uni to uni knot - that's the connection I run on all my gear rods that have braided main line, which includes one of my ultra-light setups.

I really like the ones with the little leader ring.
