In the wake of ammo shortages and rising costs of the CF stuff, I thought I would start up a thread of our rimfire collections...(Ultra Light Rifles ha ha) I have (family has)....lets see: Taurus 9 shot DA 4" Stainless Steel revolver Browning Buckmark 2 - Ruger 10-22's Remington Nylon 66 Colt M-4 OPS (trying to sell this one) Remington bolt action m541-S Winchester m9422 Iver Johnson 9 shot .22 revolver (belonged to my great uncle) Winchester m61 Single Shot (belonged to my great uncle) Marlin bolt action 17 Mach II I used to own: Ruger m77-22 (a very accurate and tough rifle but had a lousy trigger) Winchester m9422 Magnum (this one I really miss) Ruger Single Six Hunter 17 HMR (loud as a 357 magnum but very accurate) So what UL rifle collections do you own?

Great thread. I only have one rim fire an imported Garcia Rossi Gallery pump based on the old Winchester Gallery models. It can fire .22 short, long, and long rifle in rapid succestion, but the Y iron sight is very ineffective. There are times I've considered have a gunsmith intall a scope, but the shell slide eject from the top.
Funny thing, I thought perhaps you'd want to include air rifles from .22 caliber down to .20 and .177, or start at .25 caliber down...

Then let's add a Sheridan 5mm air rifle- dealy accurate, but my seals are worn out. When I was a kid, I took this gun everywhere I thought small game might be. Need to get this one repaired. It's a squirrel killer.

Marlin M25 in .22mag, pretty accurate for the the quality, great full size, 100 yard "training" rifle. Marlin M70 in .22lr, seen thousands and thousands of rounds. Zero issues. I always wished I had of got a 1022 though.

I also have a custom crosman 1322. That would be an excellent purchase for the panic crowd as it will take small game and you can hoard a lot of 22 pellets for cheap.

I only have one .22 now, a 1970's era Marlin 780 bolt gun. It was given to me by my grandfather.

I was referring to talk about guns that fire rimfire rounds....and we added air rifles too.

I bit the bullet on a great deal on a savage 17 with camo stock and scope. Fella lived near Ft Worth, so we met halfway at Dfw. There is plenty of ammo for 17hmr, which prompted my purchase. Don

In understand the Savage 17 HMR is a great shooting rifle. I preferred Hornady 17gr Vmax ammo when I had mine. CCI and Remington didn't shoot as well. Federal Premium was as good as the Hornady and I never shot Winchester.

I have a Mossberg 151m with peep sights that was my Dad's and a Browning Buckmark with a red dot. Both good shooters. I'd love to add a Smith and Wesson model 41 to the stable.

I recall it as a varmit round. When I was younger my .243, a neck-down version of the .308 was my deer rifle, shot very flat and it worked well for killing white tails.

Zenkoanhead ...just came from Dick,s sporting goods ... Tons of 17HMR available At this firearms facility ..lots of .22 caliber now on the shelves ...maybe the panic buyers have got their fill ... If you have Bass Pro shop near you This Tuesday they are running a huge ammunition sale, all calibers ... FYI ..
Paul
Btw they had CCI and Federal 17 HMR price if I remember was $13.99 A box ..that don't hurt ....

Would be nice to see 22lr back. Les, I am new to the 17hmr, but it is a flat shooter out to 175 yard or so. It is rimfire, based on a necked down 22 mag case. It gives you an extra 50 yards in hunting over the 22lr. Used for varmints up to coyotes, but the later are debatable. It comes in poly tips, hollowpoint and fmj.
It seems to be plenty effective out to 300 yards, with the right holdover.

Gamo Silent Cat, took a lot of cowbirds last year with this one. Ruger 10-22 rifle with the 20" barrel 22LR is scarce in Central Tx right now. Cabelas, Academy are sold out. People literally spend hours waiting in gun shops around here for the UPS and FedEx trucks to show up so they can buy ammo and whatever black rifles show up that day. Even Ruger 10-22's don't last more than a day or two. You can find 17 and 22 mag though.

The new 17 Hornet has got my attention ...comparable ballistics to .223 recoil Like .22 mag ....used to reload .22 Hornet years ago ..was a good 75-150 yard chuck gun with a Unertl 12x scope ... Someone posted that 17 HMR reaches out to 300 yards .. That I gotta see with a rim fire ..I used to chuck hunt with a Remington model 700 in .222 rem ... 200-300 yard head shots not out of the question ... With hollow points they were done ...longest shot i ever witnessed was accomplished by my older brother, believe the caliber was .222 might have been .22-.250 anyway we walked it off at 418 yards .. A dead crow .. Never new what hit em ....great shot by a great shooter ....... Paul
