I took my 7-pc, 3-wt fly rod, put an ultralight spinning reel on it, rigged up two crappie jigs on it and went to one of the local Dallas-area lakes to fish for crappie. I fished next to bridge pilings and then in the jungle near the shore and ended up bringing home 10 crappie, the largest was 14.5" and weighed 1.8#. I had at least that many get off the hook before I could get them into my net.
