I haven't been here in a while. As someone who loves dry flies and mostly just fish them. I thought i'd try something new.
I've nymphed in the past but mostly with indicators or dropped off a dry. I've been somewhat interested in euro nymphing lately. So, I thought i'd give it a shot.
I just bought a Moonshine Epiphany 10' 6" 3wt. Not very expensive and gets good reviews.
Does it qualify as UL?

I don't know. It won't get here until Mon.
I was kind of kidding when I asked if it was UL. I wouldn't really consider it as an UL rod. The butt and midsection are more 5-6wt with a 3wt tip. Only euro rods are like that.
My first love are dries on creeks. Moonshine has a 7'6" 3wt in the Drifter series. Knowing me, i'll probably send the euro rod back and get the 7'6' 3wt. My creeks are windy, fast freestones and need pretty bushy flies to keep from sinking. A 3wt is about as small as I can go. Plus, I fish a windy pond during runoff.
Hi Jangles...........I know you from the other forum. I was OldTimer over there. I left that forum. Some of the members were too annoying.

I've been curious about Moonshine rods for some time now but nobody I know has one . Nymph rods are fun , I have several in the 2-4 wt from 9'6" to 11 . I just got a new old stock Martin 63 for my 10' 3wt mono nymph rod . I chose that reel because it's mostly enclosed and my mono wont fall off the sides like is common with open spool reels . Sometime this year I want to get up on the Arkansas , Taylor and a few others in that area if the runoffs ever get through .
Regarding that " My shits better than your **** and I have more of it because it costs more and I DO know more than you because yada yada board " yeah I'm done with it .
Anyway , post some pics when you get the new rod , I'd like to see it .

I like the flat black color , should keep the under water glare down . I just built a flat brown 11' rod for just this reason . I also built a bright blue 11' rod , what was I thinking ? I just get bored and build rods , now I have too many to ever fish but what the hey ! Ron

We had a long runoff this year. Maybe another week and the Arkansas will be ready to fish. I hope.

That 10'6" in the above linked description looks like a mighty nice stick, it'll find it's place somewhere in your fishing. Long, low line wt rods almost always have to have a beefier butt section to be reasonably functional. I've fished with very long and butt-soft noodle sticks in the past and although it's just opinion, they kinda suck. Good foundation is to appreciated for light tips. I think the idea just works better without excessive butt flex and droopage.

I agree and a full 3wt 10' 6' rod would be terrible. The rod I had was really a 5-6wt rod with a 3wt tip.
Yes, I sent it back. Too long for this old man.
