I am recovering from hernia surgery and advised to limit my exercise to walking. I figured swinging a 2wt fly rod with a small fly would not add undo stress to the walking, and besides, I'll catch no sizeable fish on a #14 fly.
I was delighted to be proved wrong this morning. The fly was a #14 Copper John with rubber legs using a CGR 2wt with 30', 76 grains, level line.

That's a tank on a 2wt :applause

Never underestimate how irresistible a size 12-14 fly is to a bass despite their huge maw. Small spiders and foam beetles have such charm as well, you think it's a panfish sip until the whole scenario explodes airborne on the hookset.

It's extremely cool!

Nice fish Jim, that CGR must have had quite a bend on it. I have had a number of big bass take small flies. Glad you are recovering. Have been meaning to contact you. My lungs are playing up since covid attack

Those darn bass showing absolutely no respect for recent surgery. Looks like the bass interrupted the bluegill party. That must have been a pleasant surprise.

Solid fish, Jim! Can only imagine the bend in your CGR when that big boy hit!
