So this is where you guys have been hanging out. If ya'll could end this drought we have going on in central Texas, I'd have places to fish my 3 wts more often. It's fun reading about the lite stuff.

Ken, Good to see you here. Lot's of other folks like Jerry (jdub), TCF -the other Jerry, Don, and Robin are in your area; in fact, I 'm down here in Arlington. Which club are you in charge of- Red River FF or Wichita Falls FF?

Sorry Les, I did not do a good job on my profile, originally . I know Don...'zen.conehead'.... from his time in Louisiana...I am the pres. of the Pontchartrain Baisn Flyfishing Club...on the northshore of New Orleans area.Lots of redfishing in the marsh etc..I do most of my flyrodding for bass...and bream. Most of the folks in the club, have a kayak or two...Catching a big red, that pulls you around the marsh is a kick. I am just trying to figure this ultra light stuff out...I just broke out my old ';Cabelas Three Forks..I have had in the back of the closet..dusted it off, and will give it a go this weekend. Thanks for the warm and fuzzy welcome. Cheers..Ken

Hey Ken! Welcome! We look forward to your reports and pictures! Is that the Three Forks 3wt? How old? I had an older one (4 years ago) and a newer one, this year...I miss the old ones...

Maybe we'll run into each other at the FFF Gulf Coast conclave in Lake Charles. Les

I've been hanging around the glass site for a couple of years and had recently noticed mention of this site. I can't believe you have been around since November and it took me this long to wander over here. Of the many fly rods I have accumulated, at least six of them are 3 weights, and are definitely the most used. I love fishing small streams, and my 3 weights work great there. I sure see a lot of familiar names here.

Les, Glad to be here. Needed something else to feed my addiction. I imagine Kurt is hibernating about now. We received about 2.5-4 inches of sleet today. Thought I wouldn't make it home from work today. Roads are terrible. Oh well, we needed some moisture as our creeks are really getting low. Larry

Hey Larry, it's good to see you over here!
I wish we had sleet, but nope, just an inch of fluffy snow. We haven't had any measurable water in MONTHS.

Just found this forum quite by accident last evening and how interesting---I and my good fishing friend are both quite taken with the 1 wt & 2 wt rods and have been using them for quite a few years. I own an Orvis 7'9" 2 wt with WF2F line and I also have a 6'6" Phillipson Fibreglass rod which can handles 3 and 4 wt lines quite nicely---it is a real floppy (typical glas) but both are just great in overgrown streams. I do not use them exclusively but they get a workout either on streams or in our lake on Blue Gills & Crappy. I have other fly rods for nymphing (10' 5wt.), Switch and Spey rods for Salmon and Steelhead (11' & 13'6") plus other home made fly rods specifically for Salmon and LM Bass. Flyrodding is something I began as a 12 years old in Boy Scout Camp on the Ten Mile River Camps in NYS---raised two kids both in their 40's and are also still flyfishing---so at 78 I am still fumbling and stumbling on the streams. BTW nice to be here
