Just looking at these, they certainly look like the Cabela's CGR. This topic has also come up on the Fiberglass board, and Rich Morrison who is a recognized authority on Powell rods, says these are basically CGR's although they do not have spigot ferrules. He stated he had this information from industry insiders. Much of the time you can pick up the CGR for about $10 less when on sale.

Does seem similar to CGR, but CGR 3wt is only 5'9"; this rod is closer to the length I would prefer. I have a CGR 2 wt which is 6'2." I much prefer the aesthetic of the tip over ferrule to the spigot ferrule.

I got this one and I am very surprised, in a very good way. Good feel to it and very similar to my Redington Butterstick. Both aesthetics and feel, closer to the Butterstick (1st Gen 3wt 6ft) than to a CGR. Highly recommend the Powell Sweet-P.
Thinking of getting another as backup, especially for the price.

Anyone buying newer Powell rods should understand the karmic implications of what you are doing...

Well, at least Schwab is out of the picture now. Total shame what happened to that company.

Just google "Charles Scwab and the Powell Rod Company". Let's just say that when famous rod builders (or other craftsmen) go into business with big investors, they frequently get left at the curb.
