According to something said recently by Wheezeburnt, you could have a nice surprise with that Fenwick 605. Like if you try the Common Cents System to measure it, or just use the SWAG (Scientific Wild-Asked Guess) Method and put a 3-weight line on it, you may find out that it really is a 3-weight.
Welcome to the forum! Yes, welcome! And just to follow up on Pete's comment, I built my Fenwick fiberglass 605 from a blank, so its possible that my fittings altered its rating, I suppose, but as noted, it tested out to a 3.5wt. brent

This is going to seem like heresy to you guys biut I was given a $50 Cabelas gift card for Christmas and went there last week but couldn't find anything I couldn't live without.

Isn't that depressing? There was a time it was impossible for me to leave a Bass Pro or Cabela's store without buying something. Now I really can't find anything I need, as I already have just about everything I can ever use for flyfishing, canoeing, or camping. Maybe I need to sell most of my stuff so I can start over.

Cliff: I feel your pain. As Larry said, sometimes you just have everything you need. Maybe its a sign that you need to get a new hobby or explore a new aspect of angling. But overall, its a good sign, I think. I know I'll never wear out the gear I have at this point, nor will I ever use all the fly tying materials I have. I'll never wear out my canoes or my boat, or my outboard motor, or my firearms, or a whole lot of other rigging that I own. I'm very lucky to have someone to leave the 'stuff' to, but it (for me at least) gets harder to justify buying more 'stuff'. What I want is more time to do stuff with my 'stuff'. brent

I'm not sure why, but I've been buying everything with my Cabela's card recently to build up my points, but when I look online I can't find anything I want. Now as far what this post is about, I did buy some cat food and kitty litter today. I think I need to get a life. Larry

Well I bought some more junk today . A new gun range bag , a new magazine for my 1911 460 Rowland , a new extra wide extra long heating pad and a new nylon holster for my 1911 as the old one broke (the plastic) when I put it on my Fishpond Switchback Wader Belt System . It fits great as well as my bear spray . The only problem I have with it is my arms are too short or my shoulders too wide to use the net holder .

I found an Orvis Superfine Trout Bum and CFO reel at a local fly shop. My story is in the General thread.

Finally bought something fishing related. Got a couple of pairs of fishing pants for wet wading. I would have plenty, but unfortunately the expanding universe means that some of my pants don't fit anymore. Larry
