Anyone have any info on this reel? I picked it up a few years back. I can't find anything online. Not really concerned about value, more so the year it was made. Thanks and Happy Easter!

If you use that google thing on your computer and type in "Cortland Crown fly reel" you can probably find lots of info.

this one is easy-
Back in 1950's and 1960's Gladding corporation had a acquired many US based fishing related companies such US Fiberglass, H&I (Horrocks & Ibbotson), Ocean City, and Bronson. Essential Bronson and OC merged to produce blue collar reels, fly, casting, spin cast, and spinning. At the same time Cortland was marketing its own kit sets for inexpensive fly rods and reels. Since Cortland never made reels they relied on Martin ( which at the time was down the road in Mohawk NY) and others to produce these reels.

This specimen of yours is a basic Bronson aluminum clicker reel in disguise, branded with the Cortland Crown. It's a keeper a probably weighs close to 3.5 -3.8 ounces if I were guessing. Great reel for UL purposes.

Strummer,
See my black Bronson Royal 360 with same set up - different color scheme but essentially same reel without Cortland Crown round plastic circle ID plate.

These clicker reels are light enough and cheap enough to be good alternatives for folks wanting to get into the UL world without breaking the bank.
