I have a Wyncwood River and Stream 6' #2 and I fish for wild brown trout.
This is about my eighth season fishing the trout rivers in the UK.
But its the first season that I have really started paying attention to hatches and such and now I am concentrating on tippet materials.
If I was to catch a trout of over 1LB it would be unusual and if it was to reach 2LB it would be in the club records.
So I am asking what leader would you use, I am not worried about brand, because I always use Orvis equipment.
Would it be 5X or 6X ?? and how long would it be, its a 6' rod but the water is very clear. And I will be dry fly fishing.
Thanks in advance.
Nylon, Copolymer, Fluorocarbon?

You can find some discussion about leaders for 1- or 2-weights here.

If the link doesn’t open you might try copying and pasting it in your browser.

My favorite tippet material is Orvis Super Strong nylon monofilament. For what you describe you may be well served with 5X or 6X, also going to 7X or 8X if conditions require and your eyesight permits it.

I have ordered some furled leaders which are 3' long, then I can add tippet on to that.
I have never used them before but they are recommended by many over here.
We will see how it goes.
Eyesight, I can tie on a 14 while standing in a river, smaler than that I would have to get the magnifiers on.

I now have the 3' furled leaders and I did fit one to my #2 set up.
Wow, what a difference, the turn over is great and the accuracy is much better, very pleased with it.
So 3' of furled leader and about the same of 5X tippet and of course a nice stream with fish in it.
