I have one and I feel it is a true 3 weight. I have cast a WF2 line on it, but that feels a little too light to load the rod properly. I also have the CGR 2 weight rod which I much prefer. The reason is that the 3 weight CGR at 5'9" in length is just too short for most of my fishing. The 2 weight rod, at about 6" longer, is easier to cast effectively. If you want a good 3 weight rod in that price range, you might want to look into a Riverrun glass rod, 6' 6" in length. I had one that I gave to a friend. I had a lot of 2 and 3 weights, and he was looking for a 3 weight, so I let him have it, and he loves it. The Riverrun glass is available on Amazon.

Late to the party here but I did own that rod for a bit. It was decent and a true 3 wt. I sold it though as I found it a bit too slow for my likings. I would suggest you take a look at the RiverRuns glass rods by Aventik over at Amazon. Their 6'6" 3 wt offering is true to line weight, very nicely put together and somewhere in the middle range of action of like sized glass rods. ( Not fast but not buggy whip slow either) For $65 with sock and tube they are a heck of a deal!

thanks for the info yall. i went to bass pro this week and played with the cgr. i also played with the white river. i think i like the action on the white river a little better. it's a faster action. i decided to go home and do some research on them both before making a purchase.
