Can anyone list all the Sage models ever made of #1 or lighter and also describe their respective actions please. Surely this must have been a previous topic on the forum, although I can't seem to find it. Am looking to find a couple of used Sage rods and obviously one can't try them on auction sites or in classified ads. Even used they are still pretty expensive so a definitive list outlining each model and its characteristics would be helpful to anyone looking to purchase a used sage UL rod. Thanks chaps.

In 1 and 0, there isn't much -
SPL - a nice, progressive medium-fast (IMO). Models you want are 181-3 and 080-3, but really any of them. The 282-3, 363/ 373/ 383/ 389/ 474/ 589 that I own are treasured. The SP and SPL rods are easily among the best they've ever made. SLT - 4 piece version of the SPL, basically. TXL-F - Super quick and crisp, I personally thought the 000 felt more like a 3 weight in my hand but what do I know LIttle ONE - Really crisp but also very true to weight, IMHO, my 082 doesn't like most of my 1 wt lines very much. Dart - I haven't cast one but they feel like a fun little rod. If you can cast a fast (but not stumpy) rod.
They have made a number of really nice 2wts as well over the years that are worth paying attention to. I don't know offhand if they made a 1wt ZXL or not, but I do like my 280.
Probably not an exhaustive list. I'll let others add to it.

The ZXL only went down to 2wt The 1wt and 0wt SLT’s were also 3-piece like the SPL’s 4-piece SLT’s were heavier eg 3wt. I can’t comment on the TXL-F as I don’t own one. The TXL-000710-3 is definitely not a 3wt though! A true 0wt line really loads it up! I rather like a true 00wt on it (47 grains) The Dart 1wt is just superb! It is shorter than older Sage Ultralights though, Something to bear in mind. If you prefer a more medium action then its SPL or SLT. For a faster action, then its the models that came after- TXL,TXL-F,Little One,Dart. One thing I will add here? You can fish a true 0wt or 1wt line on the TXL-000710-3 and it slows the action down a bit, still feels very nice and some folk prefer this.

Thanks for the useful input toothybugs you seem to have quite a collection, don't suppose you would be interested in letting the odd one go by any chance ? Canefly - I was expecting a reply from you, I know you are a Sage aficionado, useful stuff especially on number of sections and line weights. Now can anyone put years of manufacture to all the various models please ? A definitive list is in the making here I feel. What I'm aiming for is a list of all models, lengths, weights, number of sections, years of manufacture, actions and best line weights for them all. If I can get all this info I'll try and create a simple chronological list for easy reference of all.

Thanks canefly. Have you details of the actual duration of manufacturing ( or rather years of avaiability ) For the models please ? Also no one has mentioned the Circa rods. Wonder if there were others we may have missed.

Hi Chris They were available up until the next model came out, with some over lap.
No one mentioned the Circa because it wasn’t made in 1wt or below. Only the models listed above (Sage) Regards CF

Only the TXL-F and Little One series were 4-piece. The rest are/were 3-piece.
