I was looking on E bay for a new 2 wt fly rod and found a guy that builds on emerald matrix fly rod blanks by American Tackle Co. He sells under the name Gremlin fishing. Anyone have any experience with these rods or blanks? I have found some made on RX6 Forecast blanks and know those would be nice, but the Gremlin rods look pretty cool and they have a 2 year warranty.

RD; I've built a bunch of the little 6'6" 2 weights on the RX-6 forecast blank. Theyre good little rods but they cast best with a #4 line as theyre pretty fast. I dont know anything about the matrix blank other than I've heard its fast like the RX-6. Thats a great price as i get $115 plus shipping and I bet i've built 50 of the little forecast rods. A much softer, lite rod is the 7'6" 3 weight in the forecast blank. its a true 3 weight with a nice soft flex with just enough backbone for white bass and crappie, but fun with bluegills and stocker trout. Its a slower blank than the 6'6" 2 weight. I build these for $120 plus shipping and i guarantee all my work. however, the price on the gremlin web store is impossible to beat forgot to mention this; there's a nice looking IM6 8'-3 weight in the classifieds right now; good price too-p-

I've built a Matrix 2wt and I don't like it at all. Just my opinion.

Saw them at auction starting at $49.95 and thought I might snatch one if no one else was bidding. Sounds like they are faster than I want. I really want a TFO Finesse and I guess I'll save a little longer and pick up one of those. Won't be fishing much until Spring anyway. Thanks for the input guys.

The Matrix 2wt isn't fast, it's a slower action rod, just doesn't have any feel to it at all.

That's even worse than a faster rod to me. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

I intend to get into building rods soon. Planned to start learning this winter but can't seem to find the time yet. I will keep the Pac Bay in mind.
