Anyone here ever heard of/fished this fly? An angler I know gave me a bunch this week, and I'm going to tie up some of my own. Before moving to New Brunswick, she did most of her angling in lakes in Washington and British Columbia, where it is apparently a fairly popular fly. Its still her 'go to' dry fly under most circumstances. Supposed to impersonate a caddis adult, and has lots of floatability. Yes, it DOES share some characteristics of the Humpy, but no hackle. https://globalflyfisher.com/video/tom-thumb

That fly looks like what happens when a Humpy mates with a Renegade.

Oh. Makes sense, sharkbait. (my brother, who lives in Chilliwack, just sent me photos of the Fraser River near his place: by the number of anglers in the photo, I gotta assume the steelhead are starting to run.} brent

I dont fish the chilliwack or vedder very often. (I'm assuming thats what the photo was of, since it would be next to impossible to fish the fraser for steelhead.) It makes it hard to ul here because all my local rivers have steelhead in the winter and salmon in the fall. leaving a very short window of july, august and first weeks of september to use my 2wt. That being said since no one invests money or time in ul gear im usually alone during those summer months which makes for some easy fishing. usually catching 10-30 cutties trip all on dries.

Cliff: check your medication. One pill 4 times a day is NOT the same as 4 pills, once a day.

It will absolutely catch fish, but the one problem that it has it's fragile, so you need to tie many of them, and you will want to because it works that good. I'm glad it's an easy fly to tie so I can tie a bunch in a relatively short time.
