Avid Max posted one of those how to videos of a carp fly variation that looked like it would be a great bluegill pattern. So, I tied some, substituting materials that I had on hand. Took it down to the local bluegill pond for a test. The fish do like it.

Interesting coloration

Went out this morning and the bass hit it. Unfortunately, the pics disappeared...

Bonus step by step

1. Wrap 2xl shank with 6 turns of .020 non toxic wire. Attach medium bead chain eyes

2. Battle the Caster's Squirmito, as it is a pain to keep on top of the hook shank. Cut to 1.5x shank length.

3. Senyo's Laser Dub

4. Tie in a hen hackle and make a two or three turn collar

5. Tie in legs on each side of hook, directly in front of hackle. I used FTD baby bug legs. Cut a bit longer than the hackle

6. Repeat steps 3-5. Dub a collar between the hackle and the eyes. Whip finish in front of eyes. Attach red thread and create hot spot.

Finished product (which I'm sure would be more photogenic if tied by a competent tier)

Gonna try some other material for the tail. I'm sure they'll work just as well.

Sunfish are great on the fly rod, they are spawning and spot spawn now but still in shallow water, they move out deep to 20` of water soon.

That is a great looking streamer for a wide variety of fish that hit a swung fly.
