No one fishing lately? I put in the kayak at a local launch this morning, but couldn't but a bite. Spoke with a dozen spin fishermen along the way. Only one had caught a single fish all morning. Just not the day for it around here.
I did catch some spotted bass last Wednesday, but that was on my 4 wt.

I caught a blue crab this morning on a green Berkeley atomic tube thingy. Thought I had snagged it, but was able to gradually pull it in. Lo and behold, it's a friggin' blue crab! Turned out what I thought was a 'freshwater' pond wasn't so fresh. Was using an Ugly Stik, an old Shimano spinning reel loaded with 4 lb test.

I'm a big fan of zonker type flies. I don't like casting them, but I do like catching fish on them.

I tie mine on a size 10 standard nymph hook.

Admittedly not on my 3wt, but got a nice surprise bass while testing out a big Seaducer pattern behind the house last week. Not huge, but bigger than anything I've hooked into since mid-October.

The temperature dropped to the low thirties last Monday night to give us our first freeze, then bounced back in the afternoons to the low 60's. Tuesday afternoon was bright sunny with a little breeze. Decided to visit Cibolo Creek were it runs, or rather pools, in a wind sheltered ravine. Caught four fair sized bluegills using a #12 buckskin nymph pattern on my 1wt. Max Catch fly rod. Nice fun watching the fish patrol the clear water, no sign of the local Rio Grande Perch population, a little too chilly for their tastes.
