Given the current chaos in the world, I decided I should do my part and spend a little time social distancing with my fly rod this week.

While the fish were biting in the back yard...

I decided I could put a little more distance between myself and the rest of society.

So I tied up a batch of flies

Loaded up my Mini-X

And headed down the bayou

The bite was slow to start, but turned on as the morning progressed.
This little cat was an unexpected surprise and put up a heck of a fight for its size.

Working weed lines, drop offs and cypress stumps with the pink collared white marabou fly above, the action became more consistent. No true beasts, but the sunfish sure were beautiful in the morning light

The Louisiana heat began to get he best of me after a few hours though and I headed back toward the launch.
Stopping at one last cypress tree across from the launch, I added one last bit of diversity to the morning.

I have to say, this social distancing thing is growing on me.

Chris, reading the text was quite enjoyable. However, I was unable to view the images.

Shoot. I may need to upload them elsewhere. I copied links from another forum I had uploaded them to.

how do you like the Mini X? Do they still make it?
I always thought that it was the perfect size. I have the first edition Heritage Featherlight angler which is comparable in size to the Mini X.

Yes, now I see what you were talking about. That’s one radically small kayak. BTW, what did you use in the end to upload your photos?

I honestly forget how much I love the Mini X until I use it. I purchased it in 2008, and it was my primary kayak until I upgraded to a Wilderness Ride 115 in 2015. While it lacks the speed of a longer kayak, it still boasts 300 lbs weight capacity and is as stable as any kayak I've fished from. It also requires a few inches of draft, so it's great for getting back into tight, shallow spots. I wouldn't recommend taking it for a five or 10 mile paddle, but perfect for shorter and minimalist day trips.

Glad that worked. I ended up just using Flickr.

I think that is a red-spotted sinfish.

No one caught it. I said it was a red-spotted "sinfish". I saw the mistake before I posted it but decided to leave it on there and have a little fun. But all you old farts, and young ones, missed it. SHAME!!! :lol

I did see it, but politely let it go. Sorry.
