Sunday I went fishing along the bridge columns in a Dallas lake using my 7', 3-wt fly rod with an ultralight spinning reel and crappie jigs hoping to load up on crappie. I got one hit which I got to hand, a 5-6# carp. It wasn't what I wanted but it was fun anyway.

Great. Carp are pretty strong fighters on the rod, aren't they?

I shot one with my bow and then felt guilty . He was such an ugly critter.

You felt guilty, but I bet the carp didn't feel so good either!

Sounds like a good outing anyway, Cliff! What I like most about it is slapping the spinning reel on a UL flyrod. I've done that, too. Felt like an anarchist. :lol
