It's been hot lately. Heat indexes in the triple digits. I wanted to hit the beach, but with gas prices and the heat... maybe it was best I stayed close to home.
I left it up to fate to decide. There were some dice next to me. I'd throw threes. Whichever won decides it.
The beach: 10

The canal: 5 (in this game, 3 is worth 0. The object is to throw the lowest)

Still wanting to go to the beach, I went 2 out of 3, with the same results.
No matter. I wanted to try out these Spawn Polliwog tails. I'm trying to find the answer to that stupid Kelly's Plow Jockey that my fishing buddy uses with consistent success

It was a perfect morning, except for the bugs. There must have been a billion gnats. Turkeys crossed the waterway. I tried to get a pic of them in flight, but I was too slow

In between swatting gnats, I managed a little fish

A white bugger produced a bluegill

After I let that fish go, I found I was standing on a fire ant nest. If you've never experienced fire ants, pray you never do. They aren't fun.
That was a good indicator that it was time to head home. There will be cooler days and better fishing, soon. I hope the lack of reports on this forum isn't due to lack of outings. I know things are tough right now and I'm praying for all of us.
