I read a lot about the cabela's one piece fiberglass blanks, most is very positive. I would encourage some of you that build your own rods to try the batson e-glass one piece fiberglass spin blanks. The SPG-601 is a 5 foot blank. It has a nice soft tip and a medium strength butt ideal for a small stream rod; makes a nice 3 weight. I generally put in a 3 inch or 6 inch butt extension to make it a 5'3" or 5'6" rod but you can extend the butt up to 9-10 inches, which will be hid by the grip/reelseat.(extending the butt will increase the power of the rod) The blank costs less than $15 so you can easily build a rod for $30-$40 bucks. -p-

P Have you ever used the longer models SPG 720 or SPG 780 or even the 721 and 781, instead of the SPG601, they're 6' and 6'6". Might be interesting to try them..... Mark

Thankyou very much! Please do you know other E-glass blanks in this range, about 5 or 6 feet and #2/#3 wt? Thanks in advance. Roberto

And another question to Pearow: do you think that building it without the tadpole it remains a 3 weight or it is more a 4/5wt? I wish use it with a 2wt.
