Any guidelines on where to put the stripper guide on shorter, deeper flexing UL rods? On advice of my betters I have previously put them at 32" from the butt on longer rods and that worked fine, but I laid out some guides on this 7.5' 1wt build and it looks a little odd to have it that far out. It also makes a very severe angle at the guide when the butt is deeply flexed, which happens a lot on UL rods. What have other people done?

Hi , I think it's more preference than anything . Everyone's arms are different . On my 7'6" 0wt it's 22 from the butt . On one of my 1wts it's 29 from the butt . My other 1wt is packed for a trip so I cant measure it . Thats all I can tell you .

Thanks. Some more data points: I measured my 7.5' 0wt (who built it? no idea) and the stripper is at 25.5". Sage posts guide locations for all of their rod blanks, and on the Little One 8'2" 1wt they use 27.5", and on the 7'10" TXL-F 1wt they use 24.5". The latter is considered one of the best fishing UL rods around. So it looks like most factory UL rods have them closer than 32". I will follow their lead!
