im converting a spinning rod to fly rod. is the blank far enough into the reel seat in these pics? it will be casting 4/5 line and catching bluegill, bass, etc.

It should be ok, especially if you fill that void beyond where the blank ends with epoxy. Another option would be to extend the blank a bit with a stent.

the butt of the blank seems like solid material. is the entire blank solid or just the butt end?

Is that the reel seat you were asking about removing?

yes. the reel seat came off easy. the eva was a little tougher to remove but it finally succumbed. this is the final product. not the best work but it's my first pole modification. next time i will use proper cork. this one has cork from hobby lobby and it has a ton of voids in it.

the rod is an ugly stik medium action 4-10# line. i left the spinning rod eyes on it. i will probably order a set of fly rod eyes and redo them.
