This is just my opinion here, but I wouldn't use a #2 guide on the entire rod. To me that is just too large for a 1wt line. I used 1/0 on my 2wt, and would have been comfortable with even 2/0. Smaller guides equals less line slap.

Thanks J.......but with the Recoils there is only one size smaller than 2....and it's size 1.....and I thought that the size 2 Recoil was tiny!
David
PS....Thanks everyone for the advice.

I can set you up with my guide spacing for that rod, if you like. I would recommend the Batson lite wire single foots. I use these on a lot of ultralite rods. The smallest they make is a #1, so you don't have to obsess. A single foot ceramic the same color as your running guides makes a great stripper. I would use a #10, which matches a #3 running guide.
By the way, a #1 guide is about the diameter of a small tip top loops, so if you go smaller than a #1 you are actually creating a choke point at the tip. I like black thread on Dan's blanks. I use a blocking wrap ahead of the foot. Lay in your pull through along the foot of the guide. Put 2 turns of thread ahead of the guide. The thread tag is pulled along the length of the foot, so you don't have any lump. Don

Awesome Don......Thanks!
I'll take you up on your spacing advice. Thanks also for the guide recommendations. I never thought of using a larger single foot guide as a stripper.
Got any pics of your rod?
Thanks again,
David

I will try to get Robin R. to take a couple of pix. He may even have one somewhere. Let me know when you want the guide spacing. As a general note, on graphite/glass rods I prefer to put a guide on every female ferrule so that the rod appears to be a 1 piece when assembled. Don

David. On my Dan Craft 6' 10", from the tip top ring down to the next ring, 4 1/4", 4 1/4", 4 1/4", 4 3/4", 5, 5 1/4"[on ferrule], 61/2", 9", 11" [on ferrule]. 1 tip top, 8 running guides, and a stripper. Don
