Hi everyone, newbie here, just recently retired and I have always wanted to learn to fly fish after 40 plus years of Ultra light Spinning in Az., Or., Wa., Ak., Germany, and Northern California.

Originally from Scottsdale where I started fishing 2lb test on a 4'9" 1pc. Fenwick and a 308 back in 1972 as a teenager after reading a book on Ultra Light spinning or angling. Can't recall the name of the book now, but I was instantly hooked on Ultra Light. I fished the Salt River for Rainbows, Saguaro, Canyon, and Apache Lakes for bass and crappie and lost enough Rocky jr.s and Z-rays to stock a wharehouse.

Fast forward to wanting to learn Fly Fishing and so I bought a 6' 2pc. ( FF605 ) Fenwick Fiberglass from 1973/4 from ebay last year and paired it with a small brass Pflueger Progress 60 and 3wt line, now using 2wt. Yes I wanted to stay in the Ultra Light mode... So far I've broken in my Fly Rod on the Rainbows of the McCloud here in Nor-Cal and the American River above Folsom Lake closer to home and I am loving it, just as I did so many years ago with UL spinning.

Finding this Forum is just about the best thing I could hope for and looking forward to learning from all of you.

Roger

Welcome aboard. I myself have been missing in action for a long time on here caught up with other things in life.

Lots of great folks on here that can give you lots of help and advice if needed.

Now some of them on here are just down right out crazy but they are also some of the funest, lol.

Hope you enjoy it on here!

Roger

Welcome. I think I still have my little 308 spinning reel somewhere. I fished UL spinning for years myself. (don't tell anyone but sometimes I still do)
