All my Photobucket images on this forum are no longer visible, replaced by Photobucket with a notice saying that "3rd Party Hosting has temporarily been disabled."

Following the PB link takes me to a page where they say 3rd party hosting is against their terms of service for my free account and I need to upgrade to Plus500 to get the linked pictures to work again. The price...$400!

I only use PB for this forum, so this problem was triggered by my fishing pictures alone.

Photobucket's new policies may be putting all the images on this forum at risk!

Hmm, I also use photo bucket free account for all my fishing fixtures on this forum and others. Mine appear as usual. Wonder what the difference is?

I've had a lot of problems but it's because the site is just bogged down with garbage. I think it must be a Flash app which is universally a terrible user experience IMO. It flat out wouldn't let me copy the IMG code yesterday until I messed with it a lot, but my pics still show up when linked. Been looking for another solution but laziness...

Well crap, not sure what I can do about this. Unfortunately I can't get around to doing anything till Friday or Saturday. I'll see if there is a way to allow other photo hosting sites to be used.

Here's an example. I used the forum's built in PB tools to paste the image link. It should be a pic of fish caught on my CGR 2 wt.

Here's their definition of 3rd Party Hosting
Alternatively refered to as inline linking, "hotlinking" is the action of linking to an image or object on another server. An example of hotlinking would be using an <img> tag to display a JPEG image that you uploaded to your Photobucket account so it will appear on a different website like Etsy, eBay auction listings, blogs, forum messages, etc.

I think Photobucket is off its rocker. What do they think people use Photobucket for, and why the heck do they offer so many inline linking formats?

I have a lot of photos on that site and nowadays nothing but advertising blocking it up.

I found that if you left click and hold on the blocked picture, drag it up to the top of the screen, it will open the picture in a new tab.

I stopped using that site years ago. It became agonizingly slow.

Whelp. There goes the visual component of the ULFF.com archive.

Here's a story about what happened: https://www.ghacks.net/2017/06/30/photo ... ed-images/

Even if I had $400 and thought it was worth paying that to host images, I don't want to have anything to do with a company that resorts to that sort of extortion.

https://imgur.com/, I'm thinking?

And ... Jeremy, would this be a good time to migrate to bbpress, discourse, or something else? I bet forum members would donate to fund that ....

Maybe they just haven't gotten to me yet but mine are still showing up on all sites I've linked them. How are you guys linking? I don't use the PB button from within the forum so maybe it's those that are linked that way?

I'm on a free account currently, I guess they haven't gotten to mine yet. Man its going to be a real pain in the ass for me to move all of my photos. Any suggestions on an alternative? 400 bucks to post pics on an online forum?!?!? LOL photobucket can go suck it!

I have backed up all my foto's onto a separate entitie. I will not pay one cent to Google/Photobucket. They are just plain greedy.

That's cut and paste the code generated at https://www.imgbb.com -- 16MB free for individuals. There's also a forum mod for uploading: https://imgbb.com/mod
