Hi I'm dominik from Germany. I recently got into ul due to fishing a lot for smaller coarse species as trout rivers are 1.5+ hours away.
I don't own a high quality rod yet but even with my 1wt maxcatch it is a lot of fun. I also own a 3wt I use for trout.

Hi dominik and welcome to the forum. If you can post about your fishing we would be interested in knowing about UL fly fishing in your area; photos are a plus. I fish close to home as well, limiting my fishing to waters within my town of residence, facilitated by having a river no more than 2 miles from my house; not a great river for fly fishing, but the urban development has taken advantage of the water shed providing fly fishing opportunities. What is your fishing situation?

Hi, I'm fishing both in still waters and medium streams. One of the streams hasa few trout but mostly european coarse species like roach, chubb, perch and other stuff. One stillwater has pumpkinseed (normally not here) but I couldn't catch it yet.
Regarding the fishing I use waders and mostly use small beadhead nymphs.

I fly fished the Kyll River for many years … great trout fishing & nymphing. Check out Fishing in Kyllburg/Eifel area , have many, many wonderful memories there with my German fly fishing friends https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCDLOL_RApY

Thanks for the tip. I went out today and caught a big chub of about 15 inches. Was on the 3wt so not quite ultralight but still a good fight. https://imgur.com/a/sK3egxo

It came in a set so I assume it was the cheapest one.

Sorry , I just saw this . I don't know why I don't get notifications . I have the cheapest aluminum reel that they make . I have not had a problem with one yet and they are simple to change left to right and so on . I have them form 1/2wt to 7/8 wt for pike fishing and they hold up just fine . Also , your Maxcatch rod is quality just not pricey . https://imgur.com/a/VkGVDfe
