So far I have only fished my TFO half weight twice. After the second outing I figured the wet noodle out a little better. This rod plays fish very well. Here is a big fat Brookie for your viewing pleasure. This one is about 17". The strikes were slow and soft from the cold temps, but the rod and line would telegraph it without an indicator as long as the fly was swinging (used a Georgia peach btw).

Here is another. Not the same fish, but just as big, same fly same river, same hole.

Cabelas 3-weight combo -- Northern Snakehead (small one)
#10 MM Minnow (olive over white)

This is posted in the "reports" section, but thus far this is my best UL catch to date ;). Very fun, and kind of a "goal" for the urban fly anglers in this region.

I thought the snakehead was invasive. Do you have to kill and report these?

Hi,
New to the board. My name is David and I love fly fishing. I caught this LMB last summer on a small pond at the end of my street about 30 miles west of Boston MA. I was fishing with one of my daughters for blue gills on a hot summer day just after lunch. It was a nice surprise.
Orvis Superfine 7 1/2 ft 1wt
Orvis Battenkill 1 reel
Orvis superfine 1 wt line
Chernobyl ant on 4x.
Lots of fun! Hope to fool him again!

Been quite on here as of late so I though it would be time to break the drought. Caught this guy and several other golden's in the East Sierras in July. This guy was a steam train, came up from about 10 foot to take a 16 para Adams like a blue fin tuna! To add the sweetness is the rod is a 3wt Ijuin and a Perfect inspired build of my own.

I seldom if ever take any photos while fishing, but just had to say that to others to keep the photos coming. This thread deserves to be kept alive and kicking.

I'll do my part.

First catch on my new 3-weight.......a small bluegill on a Sneaky Pete.

Same evening with the same lure............16" bigmouth bass.

Classic Trout 7'-6'' 3-weight
Drift 2/3 reel
Cabela's fly line backing
Cabela's Prestige WF3F fly line

* Caught this Spring(2015) in an urban canal in the DFW Trinity River basin.
* 29 inch cat fish which equated to about 10 lbs.
* Caught on a #8 black wolly bugger.
* Tackle was a 7 foot #3 Native Custom fiberglass rod.
* Took me way into my backing and almost stripped my reel.

That's a nice catfish. Color me jealous! It's also cool to see someone else who likes the Okuma Sierra reels. I liked 'em even more when they were $20 instead of $40 though.

Hi guys - it's been a while since I posted around here, but I do look in now and then, and when I saw this thread again I realised I finally had something worth contributing ;)

This was my first Atlantic salmon, which came from the River Ken in southern Scotland in August 2015... on a Greys Streamflex XF2 10ft 2wt rod, Vision Kalu reel, Sunray World Championship Nymph line, 3lb tippet(!) and a #14 barbless tungsten nymph.

The river has been seriously affected by multiple hydropower dams since the 1930s, to the extent it's no longer really regarded as a salmon river, and this was apparently the first salmon from this beat "for at least the last couple of decades"!

After that first deep downstream tug in the current seam, not for a single second did I think I'd actually land this beast, but in the end he was safely beached and released (I hope) after a properly epic fight. In the heat of the moment I forgot the blade-of-grass-girth-measurement trick, but 27-28 inches from nose to fork, measured against the rod... my bro-in-law suggested about 4lbs so I think I'll go with 5 (and subsequent Facebook comments have suggested around 7?)

That's one fish I won't forget in a hurry...

Theo

Excellent, I have had the same rod now for almost 11 years, just love it. Nice fish you caught, many a tight line.
