Haha!
The reels are an Orvis Battenkill (made in England by Hardy) and a Hardy L.R.H. Lightweight. They've both been in the family since the 1950s or 1960s or so--both were my father's. They are usually attached to bamboo rods.

Three forks 3wt, best bargain that I've purchased. I've fished every line size from 2wt to 5wt with my 3wt three forks. Nice pick up.

After a year of fishing the 3 weight a lot (only the Battenkill bamboo got equal time) I agree. It works really well even with 6 weight! Not for long casts, but it is witchcraft up close. 4 weight is a perfect match with it. Last fish of 2017 was caught on it: https://flic.kr/p/22TFj4won the 4th cast. Good thing: it was 16 degrees F or so. This is what my guides looked like as I walked up the path after that 4th cast: https://flic.kr/p/21AKnochttps://cargocultfishing.blogspot.com/2 ... it-up.html

By gosh you are a hardy soul! Appreciate knowing that I am not alone in the claim of the 3 wt 3 forks versatility. During 2016 I was fishing home made shooting heads, not sprey but shot back casts, and this rod did the best of my other rods.

Haha you shoulda seen it in 6 degrees:-) https://flic.kr/p/23eA1jJhttps://flic.kr/p/21UjKwTWhat popular summer refreshment does this remind you of? https://flic.kr/p/Jj2NSFyet another night: https://flic.kr/p/J7SbqXSix Degrees (F) of fishing freedom: https://flic.kr/p/231p2s5The advantage over the previous 16 degrees was that with almost completely frozen creek, the fly line never gets wet--HA!

Congrats and welcome I too, have the three forks 763. worth every penny. a bargain -enjoy the rod.
here is a tip- the cork is not the triple A type- recommend that you put a coat of U-40 as soon as possible to preserve it. you will be happy that you did.
ENJOY.

ENJOY. Thanks for the tip! I'll look that up. Yes, the cork chips out more easily.

I have had the Three Forks 3wt for 40 years or so , got it a long long time ago . It's landed many fat Bows and Browns in the 4to 7 lb range in the old days at the San Juan river before the state ruined it by letting boats float and guides to guide on it . The cork on mine was getting pretty bad so to keep the memories I coated with rod dancer finish epoxy . Surprisingly when it gets wet it doesn't get slippery at all .
