Using a small white popper #8 hook. Got sucked up lightly and I set the hook. Bent the rod like a pretzel. 6:30 PM EST. Boats were on the river close by.

Wow, I can only imagine what that must have been like.

Yeah, that must have been a ball, whatever it was you were doing and hooking. I guess since it's his first post we have to be easy on him for a very incomplete post, especially since there's no photo.

Well now, this does seem like quite an exercise for the imagination, something that most UL flyfishermen must have in abundance. Please enlighten us Mickooo. I imagine that you really mean you caught a big crappie. But I really wonder where you are located and which 0-weight fly rod you were using.

Oh. I was leaning toward a devout carp. You're probably right, Pete.

Pic finally up - may have preferred the possible imaginary fish responses. Rod was a Sage SPL from around 2008.

****, that's sweet!
I used to think it an irony when big fish end up on light tackle, but more than ever I tend to think the stealthiness of light tackle is what's responsible for these types of occurrences.
Our UL presentations and behaviors are pretty darn effective big fish strategies. Sneaky, unhurried, low disturbance at the surface.

Nice fish, must have been a fun fight! I have put some big fish on my SPL and SLT 0wt rods. Hell I have put some big fish on my TXL 000wt when I used to own one they're great rods. Just don't break it, I broke one of mine and recently sent it back to sage. They informed me that they can no longer repair those so mine is being replaced with a TXL-F.
