3 hours in the canoe and three largemouth…
Water temps have bass feeding on small fish in shallows. Had a day of catching more trees than fish. I was ready to call it quits and decided to tie on a new fly leader and tippet on the 4wt. The retied popper was just sitting in the water next to a fallen tree and brush pile. It got hit hard and I was surprised. The bass took off toward the brush and was wrapped around a branch and needed some skilled assistance, aka
luck, to land by hand. This one is one of a few bass that I had to hold out as far as possible to fit in the pic. At least 5lbs, probably more. Can't ask for a better day in late September in Connecticut.
