I just started fly fishing about a year ago and then found this site and the idea of ultra light fly fishing really intrigued me so. I grabbed my 3wt and started hunting some nice size bluegills at the local pond. Well I was fishing in about a foot of clear water in the middle of the afternoon when a really nice size bass slammed my wooly bugger. I had a blast and the fun part was really trying to land these beats correctly without breaking the line. Fun had to come to an end when a really nice sized bass went "Jaws" on me and went deep into the weeds. My rod tipped snapped but I really had fun.

Practice practice on Bluegills, a great sport fish and one that you can really Learn how to fly fish, after catching and targeting good size trout in Oregon in the summer months I get just as much pleasure catching 3/4-1 lb Coppernose gills down here in south florida in the winter, nothing like them on Ulralight fly tackle ....they never give up, fighters to the very end .... Welcome to the forum and seasons greetings .....

Welcome to the forum. You can't find a nicer group of folks! Always listen carefully to my friend Panfisher and the rest of us old farts on this blog. Any group that can spend months discussing nose grease can't be bad at all! Seriously now, the sunfish are just the most fighting fish of size and weight in this world. With the right UL equipment and techniques, it is just the best time you can have (wait...there is that other activity but I can't remember). In my humble opinion, the words "I am now hooked" should be part of our masthead or forum page.

aWell, Paul, if you DO start bottling it, I suggest calling it "Peripatetic Paul's No-Nonsense Nosegrease"...and if you need a company motto.."It might seem pricey, but itsnot."
Oh, and welcome, meathelmet.
