Looking to buy something short 6' or under, 0 or 1 wt. Not looking for anything too expensive, a beater or even something with tip broke off is fine. Thanks, let me know what you have.

Been wonderfully pleased with the Max Catch Ultra lite 1wt (6ft, 3 section) rod that can be found on Amazon for a scratch under $50. A pretty little rod that is put together well and is enjoyable to use.

Totally agree, I own a Maxcatch 1wt. It's a great little rod at an excellent price.

Hi. Your replies about this rod has me very intrigued. The smallest I have gone is a 3wt, so its new territory for me.
I am wondering, for those who have the rod:
1) what line are you using for it?
2) what size flies have been effective?
3) what distance casts are you able to achieve (understanding that wind is a factor)?

Thanks!
Jason

I know this is an old post, but for those looking for info. The Maxcatch 1 wt is a nice rod. I ordered mine in early 2021 directly from them off of eBay with extra tip and case delivered for $55. I fish short cast water so lined with 2 wt. I can very easily cast 40 feet, roll cast about 25-30, including a 1/2 inch airlock strike indicator. I've fished size 20 to weighted size 12 flies with it. It's a good deal. Paired with a Wychwood River & Stream 2/3 reel that weighs 1.8 ozs, half fly line plus some backing and it's perfect for me where I don't need more than 25 ft of cast length. The whole rig weighs about 4 ozs.

Cheers,

George
