I am hoping to find what I consider to be a perfect rod for backpacking for Native Brookies here where I live. This may be an impossible but, here goes. 4' 4pc. 2wt. w/ black guides/stripper and black thread and reel seat hardware w/ dark insert. I would like the blank to have a satin finish so as not to have a glare. I know this may be impossible but, let's see what we can find. One last thing, it does not have to be expensive componants, as a matter of fact I prefer that it not be as I am most likely to damage it.
Thank you for your time.
Scott

You might be able to build something close by taking a multi-piece blank and dropping the last one or two sections. Just a thought ...

What did you have in mind in the glass?
I do have a Steffon glass rod but wouldn't want to chop that up.

I have a 5' 3wt. bamboo rod I'd part with. It does have dark blued guides but I doubt the N/S ferrule would help much in a stealth approach.

I have a A&F "Banty 44", 1960s era fiberglass. 52" but not a 2wt, more of a 3 or 4. I have used it in the Smoky Mountains for small trout. But let me tell you it will haul in larger fish.

Sorry, but forgot! TFO 5' 3 piece .5wt rod. Yes, I am a small rod Junkie. I am using an Orvis WF1F line. I plan to use it this year in my annual trip to the mountains. 3 pieces 21.5" with dark sliprings on a cork reelseat if you are backpacking. Blank is TFO Dark Green, so no flash for the Brookies.

Chips you'll love the TFO 5'0 3 piece .5 wt for packing into the wild, I use It often on the small streams in Oregon ..perfect fly rod for that purpose ...using A WF1F also on a BVK-0 both rod and reel r so light you don't even know they are there ..

Don't know the name of the fellow but there was a guy I believe out of Arkansas that showed up and did a presentation years ago to the LSFF group there in Tyler, TX. He built 4' rods and did a demonstration on them.
Maybe Gordon will remember who he was. I'll see if I can find him.

Dan, that might have been Doug Macnair. I remember him doing some demonstrations on casting a very short rod. He was connected with the Wright rod makers in some way, and I thought he'd retired to somewhere down here in East Texas. Maybe Lufkin?

I remember that name now but newtyer is banned now unless he creates a new account and uses another name, lol.
