FOUND--Looking for a 3 weight in 8.5 to 9 ft-3 piece configuration-in a moderate to fast action--FOUND

I am flexible as far as brand name goes and would certainly consider a good used factory built or semi-custom if anyone looking to sell such. I do wish to keep the price under $300 for the rod.

Thank you

philos

Also would be interested if anyone has a 4 piece. 3 piece rods seem to be more rare than 2 or 4 piece by a wide margin.

Thanks

For the $300 price you can get new from almost any of the rod makers out there. A Greys 9' 3 wt 4 piece medium fast action new is only $289. A TFO Finesse 8'9" 3 wt 4 piece is $205. A Cabella CZN 9'6" 3 wt at $200 and the list goes on. Enjoy your search but don't forget new is also an option.

Joe

Thanks for the information. I have never owned a Grey's rod -might have to look into that option.

I bought one as a backup for my old Sage SP 9' 3wt 2 piece because it had almost the same action and was 4 piece which is easier when traveling. I own three Greys and am very pleased with the quality and action.

Give Kevin a call at Colorado Custom Fly Rods. I'm sure he can build a beautiful custom rod for you for that amount of money and you get to choose exactly how and what goes on the blank.

I agree with Joe in that price range you can buy some pretty nice New rods. I have both TFO Finese and a TFO BVK in 3wt. The Finese sells for just under $200 and is a soft slow/med traditional flex rod. The BVK sells for $220 and is a stiffer med/fast action with a soft tip and stiff butt section. Both are nice rods just at different ends of the casting spectrum, Finese is relaxed feeling and the BVK shoots bullets.

Neither comes with a rod tube :(
