This morning I took my tube to a lake in Prosper and caught seven bass under 1#. When I left I put my tube in the back of my truck and headed home to Plano. When I got home I realized I had forgotten to close the tailgate and my tube was gone. I went back up there twice this afternoon looking on Custer Rd. between Hwy 380 and Prosper Trail to try and find it but had no luck. Hopefully someone will report to the Prosper or McKinney police that they found it and I can get it back. If not then I lose a Fish Cat 4 Deluxe tube with about $200 of flies and other materials in the storage pockets, along with my flippers and landing net. Getting old and feeble-minded REALLY SUCKS!!!

Joe, I remembered this morning that I had my fishing license in it which had my name and address on it. So if an honest person finds it they might return it to me. Does anyone know of an honest fisherman?

Cliff: Not sure if this will take the sting out of it, but its one of my favourite 'getting old' stories:
Two older couples have gotten together for dinner at one couple's house. The women are upstairs putting the finishing touches on supper, while the men are in the basement messing around with fishing equipment (see? its sort of relevant). Jim, the homeowner, says to Bob:" We had a great dinner out at that new place in the next town" Bob:" So, what was the name of the place? Wouldn't mind trying something new" Jim: Ah, my memory is crap these days. What's the name of that really popular flower? Bob: Oh, you mean The Tulip? Jim: No, That's not it; its that one that people give to each other on special occasions. Bob: Oh, The Chrysanthemum! Jim: No, that's not it, either. Its the one that is usually red. Bob: Oh, you mean The Rose! Jim: Yeah! That's it. Jim walks over to the bottom of the stairs and yells up: "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we ate at?" Brent

It sucks until you consider the alternative.
Lately I've remembered a few people or events and then said to myself, "Good God. That was 50 years ago."

Cliff, that's a real bummer. If it's not returned, I'll try to tie you some replacement flies. Maybe you could make a list of your favorites and we can all tie some to replenish your box. I know you're not going to visit the dark side and start tying yourself.

NEVER will I even try to visit the darkside!!! The flies I lost were all poppers and I have plenty more of those with the rest of my fly fishing stuff in the closet. I'll have to replace a few of them like the diving deer hair frogs, but that's about all. Dale left plenty of others in his junk. I still even have a few chartruese #1 Peck's poppers left! That is a fly that I have been using for 50 years and have caught most of my bass on it. They went out of business several years ago but I still have three left. But I'm still hoping that the Lord had an honest person pick up my tube and that they'll return it.

I could keep you busy reading for hrs. about all the stuff I've lost by laying things on the tail gate or the roof of the truck. I finally quit doing it...not even for a minute.
I have a PHD from the "School of Hard Knocks"

Cliff,
I know several here have offered you jigs/flys, but I'll throw my name in as well. If you get low, let me know. I tie jigs/flys all the time and would be happy to send you some.

Thanks for the offer but I have plenty of flies. I just lost one box of flies and they were all poppers which I have plenty more of in the closet (I hope when I take them out of the closet that they haven't turned gay). I probably lost 30-40 poppers, but many of them were probably 15 years old and many which I hadn't ever used (and would probably have never used). Thanks anyway.

Nope, Craig, haven't heard a word about it, so I guess it wasn't an honest person who picked it up.

Cliff, I'd still keep an eye on craigslist. Good chance whoever picked it up might not be a tube fisher and try to sell it. You did backtrack your route didn't you? Didn't look back at the comments to check.
