Wow! THat's a beauty!

I went for a sleigh ride! That thing took off like a rocket! It took me 7-10 minutes to get it to hand.

I am going to a ranch in the Temple area this weekend, please no cold fronts maybe I can catch a fish or two!!

Way to go Cliff! One of these days I'm going to show up there to catch a few of those stripers.

The really interesting thing about this is that I wasn't expecting to catch a striper, I was trying to foul-hook a carp which were think as flies in that particular area. I saw a LOT of carp over rocks in less than 2' of water and since I wasn't catching any stripers I decided to try for some carp which were feeding on algae on the rocks. When the fish hit the clouser and took off like a freight train I thought I had a big carp on. I was really surprised when I finally wore it out and it came to the top and I saw it was a striper.

Then, when I got closer to the area I hooked the striper I saw that there were lots of big stripers swimming there as well. I caught one other "small" 5# striper and foul-hooked a 3-4# carp in the tail. They blew the horn warning that they were going to start generating just as the stripers began to boil chasing shad on top. But I had to get out of the water before they started generating. Those nasty, evil fish blew up all over the place for the next 25 minutes because they knew I was leaving and couldn't catch them. Next time I think I'll stay out there and get washed down the river and catch those sneaky stripers. I'll probably end up 150 miles downstream in Shreveport but I can always call UBER for a ride back home.

Here are two more striper I caught at Denison Dam this morning on a pencil popper, 4-12 and 3-14. I also caught (foul-hooked) what I think is a 8.2# carp, or is it a smallmouth buffalo?
