Oops, I meant a striper's life.
I was fishing a run in the Red River below Denison Dam on Sunday when I noticed a cork (bobber, float) moving upstream. I looked around to see who was reeling it in and saw that there were no other fishermen around me. Then I realized that there was a fish under the cork and it was swimming up the run.
I cast my fly several times at the cork and finally hooked the line under it. The fish then took off downstream and started stripping line from my reel on my 7-wt rod. When I eventually got it to hand it was a 4.7# stripper, er striper. I took the hook out of its mouth, weighed it then let it go back home. I saved a life!! I am a hero!! I deserve a medal!! (Next time I catch it I'll probably take it home to eat
)
