Colorado Bend State Park. I had to make another trip after my busted fly rod a few weeks ago. I got the repaired rod the other day (well replaced a TFO BVK 7wt built from there kit, with a factory 7wt BVK) and headed out this morning around 9. Fished till 1200. I managed to land 15-20, but only kept 3 for some fish tacos. I'm the only one that will eat it, lol so only needed one. I should also say that the night I received the rod, I went to Bass Pro and returned it. The 7wt BVK is to close in action to my 5wt Axiom that's in the classifieds here. So I returned it still in the sock and plastic bag. I picked up a 8 1/2' TFO Pro II 5wt, Lamson Liquid 2 reel, some backing, tippet rings, and some tying materials. All for the trade in of the BVK and .96 on the debt card. I think I'm going to keep the Axiom until it breach and pick up a Mangrove or Clouser 7wt for my striper fishing. Reel and lines that I have on it right now will transfer over nicely on either rod. All fish minus the 3 pictured were caught and released on a #8 white and chartreuse and white and grey double clouser rig on the new rod.

Never even considered I could land a striper (ours are hybrids) on a #8 size fly. Nice.

Yep, cliff they are sandbass. The picture on the rock makes them look bigger than they are. Just under 12". Everyone that I cough was that size too. No monsters and no dinks.

Good choice in that TFO PRO II 5wt. I love that rod. Wish I still had it.

I,be got two of them, this is one and my wife has the casting for recovery. Same rod, just a color coat and different color scheme. Neither really get used much. I use my 3 wt BVK, and now Finesse 2wt almost exclusively. There is the rare trip that I will take the 5 wt. nice to have a heavier rod in the closet.
