To all my Canuck friends here. Different sort of celebrations this year, but a day to be proud (if not overtly nationalistic ;) )to be a Canadian. Aujourd'hui nous celebrons.

It's probably wrong that when someone mentions Canada, I automatically picture these two

Oh well. Happy Canada day to you as well!

:lol :lol Not wrong at all. Photos of our unofficial Prime Minister and Deputy PM are always welcomed. I expect that currently, that movie and Come From Away form the bulk of our image in the USA. There are worse global images out there....

This is the first I've heard of that one. Gonna have to look for it and expand my knowledge of Canadian culture.

Strummer: Come from Away is a play currently on Broadway (for several years) documenting how the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland took in about 7000 Americans on 38 aircraft who were unable to return to the US during/following 9/11. For many Americans, it was their first exposure to Canadian hospitality and generosity of spirit. They were there for several days, fed, clothed, housed in a town that is far from wealthy in anything other than spirit.
(as an aside, this story and the lead role Canada played in rescuing Americans from the Iranian embassy back in 1979 - unlike the 'Argo' version of the story, -google Canadian Caper- were the source of considerable discussion here, immediately following the US declaration in 2018 that Canada constituted a 'national security risk' :lol :lol :lol )

I have some pesos left from my last trip to Cancun, can I use them for currency in Canada?

No problem. Take them to any Tim Horton's and exchange them for Canadian Tire money which is legal tender anywhere north of the border.
