This time of the year when we are on standard time it gets dark early and my evening fly fishing is in the dark.
When fishing at night my bass catch goes up. During the summer's daylight fishing I am catching mostly blue gills with an occasional bass.
I will continue to catch bass at night even when the temperatures dip into the 30's.

Anyone else have this experience?

:lol Those of us living in the great white (frozen) north offer a resounding NO to sharing your experience, but a hearty THANK YOU for sharing your experience, as a way of helping us through the annual hardwater season.

Jim, a friend of mine (yes, I actually do have ONE friend) and I used to go fly fishing at the local golf courses at night and caught plenty of largemouths when the sun went down. Also, during the summer bass fishing improves at night and many huge largemouths are caught after the sun goes down. The guides at Lake Fork do a big business at night during the summer.

I need to keep the local golf course in mind, it has a good deal of water. Thankful to be able to continue fishing throughout the year. Sunfish have also been cooperative after dark, for me, in the early winter but dropping off in late December and January; but during the time the Sunfish are slow, the Bass catch gets better.

My employer's route into Houston crosses over a bayou(White Oak) just north of downtown. About a week ago I was crossing this bridge several hours after sunset and lo and behold somebody was down there wearing a headlamp and throwing some large top water lure with a spinning rod. Now I have never seen anyone fishing that section of water before, let alone in the dark. Maybe they know a secret about prime fishing in Houston. Shame I could not stop to speak with that person, all sorts of questions came to mind.
