Sunfisher, you have a great combo there, just ask Uncle Larry for his review of that rod. I think if he did not have that 3wt Orvis listed, the TFO would make the top of the list without question!

I live in central Texas and the wind is often 10+. It's really frustrating when you have to go heavy because of the wind! I have always liked to use the lightest rod I possibly could, but a 2 weight is about as light as is practical for me. And that 2 weight pulses with every beat of that broad sunny fighting you all the way!!!!!! Jack

Very true. That is why I gravitated towards lighter tackle. I fished a 5wt for a while, and then a 3...the 5 takes up closet space, the 3 is gone, and the 2 remains!

I choose my Quiet Loop 763-3 mated with the Kineya 301a reel. This set-up is a bit more practical than the Sage 8' 1" 1wt. (I bought from you Jim I believe) with the Dutch Fly Reel 0, but let me tell you I am glad I don't really have to make the choice. I really love my 3 wt. rod and reel combos, every one of them. I recently bought a Diamondglass 3wt. but have only fished it a couple times Paul

Hi Fellas. I will take a few photographs today - the Quiet Loop and the Kineya. Dear Wife is signaling me to go to a big box store. Egad! Hope I get home before dark to take the photos

a fellow on another forum thought the reel was "too loud for me" so I bought it at a good price. It sounds lovely. Lucky me.

That's a pretty sweet outfit. I'd like to get my hands on a Norie Flex Taylor blank.

I really like the TFO 7-foot-9 3 weight Finesse. What a great series of rods.

That particular Finesse has received mixed reviews, but most I have heard are amazing! Thanks for sharing, and do post pictures!

I talked to some people about that blank.....and about the Finesse 7'9 5wt blank......they told me they were still a little fast......but these guys were glass fans and liked slower rods....(as do I)... I guess it's all about perception.
I guess I need to find a TFO dealer in the area and wave some Finesse rods around and try for myself.

David, The Finesse rods are not fast at all, more of a medium action. I can say though that I despise the 7'9" 3wt, it has horrible tip bounce (for graphite) , and it's heavy for it's length.

TFO rods in general have a tendency to be heavy, however, the Finesse rods are medium action, no faster, no slower.

Won't ever see me talking bad about any brand of rod.

Won't ever see me talking bad about any brand of rod. Steve, I'm not bashing the entire line of rods, but I have cast the Finesse 7'9" 3wt and it isn't a very nice casting rod at all. To each their own. There are those out there who would like to know how a rod casts or performs, and since there are no sponsors here on my forum, then I tell it like it is. That rod has lots of tip bounce. As a matter of fact it has more tip bounce than any glass rod that I own. Sorry, the rods taper just isn't all that great, and I'm not going to mislead anyone here just because I don't want to talk bad about a brand of rod. J.
