I finished wrapping the little critter. Almost like a toy. I will Probably start varnishing the wraps on Monday. The case is done for the most part. I am going to put a bit of felt on the lid so it fits snug. Not sure about the bag yet. I might order one from REC. I will take some pics this week if possible.

Well, she is done! I casted in the front yard yesterday. I have never casted something so small. It was a lot of fun. I wish I was on a tiny creek somewhere. I will take it fishing next week and then get it in the mail. Please PM me addresses of e mail them to pacchef23@hotmail.com. A couple words of advice. Be gentle with the rod when putting together. Always make sure the rod is dry before putting away. No beadheads or splitshots please. (lightly weighted nymphs are ok). Please don't go lunker hunting with this little rod. I don't want it to be a big fish competition. I will send pictures to J in the hopes he can post them for me. Cheers, Andrew

beautiful. I really like the looks of that reel on the rod. How does it cast?

It was pretty windy when I tested it. I was able to double haul about 40 feet out on the lawn. No water and a few beers probably hindered the rods performance. I don't think it will break any records for distance casting and Sage hasn't sent people to break my legs- but it felt really lively with a WF1 Orvis line. It is the only 1 wt I have ever casted, thus not a lot of experience to speak of. I do own a couple 2 wt rods. It was definitely lighter in hand than those. I had to make the rod a bit parabolic in the middle in order to make sure their was enough cane to mount the ferrules. The rest of the rod is very much tapered to be a dry fly rod. After I fish it I will report how it roll casts, parachute casts, etc...

I fished it again today. It was 90 something degrees in the foothills where I fished. I went to the Raging River, a tributary of the Snoqualmie River. I caught probably 30 little rainbow & Coastal cutthroat. The largest was about 8 inches. It was a hoot. I will try to get the rod in the mail next week.
