JDub  Thanks for the elkhorn reviews!  I really like my 7' 2w elkhorn western (thanks to FFO 2w shootout!)... Looks like my western 2w doesn't have the nicker silver hardware from the western 1w?

Brian mentioned that the next bunch of Western 1 wts they build will have the aluminum hardware like yours.  I like it!

Great job, Jerry. That looks much more proportional.

Thanks Chris, not surprisingly it moved the balance point forward a bit as well. Great little rod--I can't wait to get it out on the water.

Les was by this afternoon and tried out the Western 1 wt. It's always interesting to take a rod you're really pleased with and hand it to someone else. Les's response was what I expected. Something like... "this is nice"... "this is really nice"... "whoa, this is SMOOTH!" :-) I'm sure he'll post here with his impressions.

All,
Jerry's correct in his assessment of my reaction to that rod. I had never cast one of these -until today- and it was sweet to throw. In comparison to some superfines it would feel similar in action and throws some very soft tight loops. I like the cork reel insert better than the TFO Finesse and the rod does come with a tube for the same money as the finesse 1wt.

In sum, the Western 1wt by Elkhorn would be a thumbs up buy from me.

I have the other Elkhorn 1wt and will review it soon.
Les
