i dont tie my own flies or poppers and I buy the cheapo poppers that seem to work fine- the bass and gills love them. So when
a popper has the tail chewed off, ( I am a bird hunter) I take pheasant tails and cut off some feathers and replace the tails myself. the whole operation takes about 5 minutes and doubles the life of the popper.
Also, a simple rubber band cut into 2 inch lengths makes fine "legs" for bass and gill poppers.
for those who live on the coast where snapper blues(less than 12 inches) make for great sport in September, they love to hit old chewed up poppers- great fun on an UL flyrod.

Good idea. These flies have good mojo and old fish slime, the perfect attractor for fish.
