I use clear plastic cake covers, pop bottles, paper sleeves (protectors) and any other different thickness's I can find. I use a single paper hole punch for the arbor hole. This way, you can nibble a little at a time to make a tight fit on the arbor spindle so they don't fall off. (very hard to find if they fall on the rug, but who cares...they're cheap!)

Just an added note, I super glue the plastic washers to the reel and also you can super glue a washer under the spool hub screw if needed. Try it!

Did it work for you? I use different thicknesses on quite a few of my reels. 7-up plastic is green....
