For a $5 investment from a bargain sale at the Real Canadian Superstore, I picked up this great storage system for all my "stuff" while out on the water. I've added a neck strap from a camera case to convert it into a chest pack: Cheers Darrell Also these small screw containers came from a local Dollar Store for $1.50, & the larger one was from Lee Valley Tools for $1.40. I was using old film canisters for hook & bead storage, but these take up less space & are clear:

Harbor Freight has some cheap plastic containers with dividers, much cheaper than Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops. Have some round ones like yours but have found they tip over on the shelf.

I only use fanny packs because I need the option to have 1 or more water bottles when I'm out all day.
The only caveat -- most of the water bottle holders will rip and fall apart pretty quickly (before the rest of the pack), at least with the way I use them. Also you gotta make sure they fit actual, realistic bottles. I had one that wouldn't fit a darn thing!
Nonetheless, I can't find any other system I like as well as I do the fanny pack. It keeps stuff out of my way and just works well.

For carrying small items get some of the different size pill vials from your pharmacist. I use one that's 5 1/2" long (and nearly 2" in diameter) for the flies I cut off in salt water. I fill it with fresh water at the beginning of the trip and all my flies that have been dunked in the salt ride in it until I get back to the house or RV. Another freshwater rinse, overnight dry, and they go back in the fly box rust-free before leaving out the next morning. My longest flies fit in it just fine. I sometimes just throw a few flies in one and stick it in my pocket if I don't want to carry a bag on short jaunts. Just be advised, if you stick one in the cargo pocket of your fishing pants while wading, and it isn't full of water, it just might float away with all of your flies.
Don't ask.............
