What type of fishing are you doing? We can get a better idea of what to recommend if you tell us.

If your going to fish around Central Tx then I would look for a 8' or longer rod. Your close to Lake Travis and you'll appreciate the longer length especially if you end up using a Teeny BS 100 sinking line. Plus it will work well on the local rivers. Take a look at the Cabelas rod posted for sale by DCG in the classified section of this forum, it may be what you need and the price is very fair. I've lived in and around Austin for 30+ years now and believe the 8' to 9' 3wt would be more useful as an all around rod.
