These boxes are available at Joann Fabric, sold as "photo cases." They are transparent and easily made into a fly box. This one is made for 5x7 photos, they also come in a smaller size and I believe a size larger, also. I lined this one with a cut sheet of 5mm green craft foam that I slit with a razor, full length, every 1/2". It could hold a lot of smaller flies, depending on size, or a good number of larger streamers. This is an assortment I did for a guy I know who is getting his first fly rod for Christmas as a surprise. Should cover warmwater top to bottom, literally. Murdich Minnows, another medium sized streamer pattern I tie (perch coloration), foam topwaters, 4 Kreelex's, Mixed Medias, Barry's Carp Bitters, and 4 bluegill patterns I tie. Here's a link to the cases online in the 4x6 size: https://www.joann.com/iris-photo-case-4inx6in/1754506.html#q=photo+box&start=8

I did something similar with teh JoAnnes photo box - but I found some of the thin magnetic sheeting on clearance also, trimmed to fit the box, and glued it in. Holds small flies really well - I use it mostly as a place to store flies that I'm tying before sorting them out into the correct boxes. Keeps them from wandering away. I think the photo box and magnet set me back about $5 total.

Very nice. Do the outside front corners have catches on them? I've had the lids on too many small Plano boxes warp at the outside corners and lift up making the box useless for small jigs etc. It doesn't take too much heat in a truck to get this to happen.

If you're afraid you might lay it down and not be able to find it again, there's a Hi-Vis option available at Lowe's: DeWalt Plastic Tool Box, $5.97

I use cast off eyeglass cases picked up at the thrift store. I line the interior with foam and/or magnet sheet. They are shaped to be somewhat form fitting and you only need a couple with the various flies you'll use on a given day. My favorite one is in a 'Hello Kitty' motif. Okay, I'm kidding about the 'Hello Kitty' thing.
