Hey guys and gals ...I was helping a friend clean out an estate today and I noticed some old badminton racquets being thrown away......hmmmm I thought ::)
Due to me having a one track mind , I thought what better way to recycle an old used racquet than to turn it into a new trout/ fly fishing net!!! ....they are Very light weight and can be used to add some reach while capturing a fish! .. I now have a small winter project

When you said 'nets' in your subject line, I figured you were planning to 'sweep the pool' with a gillnet. :eek
Sounds like a neat project; keep us posted if you go ahead with it.
Can't help you with any advice, other than to suggest that fish will be way more willing to climb into that net if you could prominently display an "Orvis" sticker somewhere where they can see it. ;) ;)

That's the first thing that came to my mind, I think I spent too much time over there as a kid. ;)

Well, the point remains, its a pretty interesting idea! A long-handled, lightweight net!

Interesting idea.

I have seen on a forum somewhere that a guy made a net out of a racketball racket. It came out pretty close to standard size so it was easy to get a replacement rubber bag to use on it. It made a nice composite custom net.

I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished too.
